Trend Alert-Mixed Materials in the Kitchen
We've been championing the Mixed Materials Trend during 2016 in a lot of our Kitchen images and we believe this trend will only grow in strength during 2017. By bringing natural materials into our home we add a connection to a lifestyle that celebrates and embraces nature and its unique imperfections. Below are some of our favourite examples.
Surface design that mimics nature
The Stone Blue facia utilises the latest technology in surface design. The textured surface of the wood grain effect makes it a great solid wood replica with all the benefits of a laminate. This has been layered with tonal marble and cool greys for an elegant and refined look.
By using the textured Walnut facia in the industrial style kitchen, warmth has been added to the palette. The tactile mix of textured Walnut, embossed tin wall tiles with textured slate lends personality to the clutter free kitchen.
Exposing and unifying the look
The skylight in the Oak Shaker kitchen is divided by textured wooden beams and exposed sandstone, creating contrasts with the slick finish of the painted plaster. What we choose to expose and hide creates an interesting commentary for any contemporary kitchen.
Mixing materials doesn’t always require contrasting textures. The matt doors, matt walls and semi-matt floor tiles combine the same texture but still allow to stand out in the kitchen. The use of one grey hue ties the look together.
